Planning/Training/Exercises Crosswalk

The Crosswalk is designed to aid CSEPP trainers, planners, and managers by listing emergency preparedness tasks and showing their relationships to available planning guidance, training resources, and exercise requirements. The purpose is to help CSEPP participants get the best use of all documents that have been produced for the program. For example, a CSEPP planner working on a specific emergency preparedness task could use the Crosswalk to identify useful planning recommendations and training materials. Conversely, an emergency manager whose organization had trouble in a CSEPP exercise could use the table to find the exercise evaluation guide associated with the problem and then identify the training materials available to help correct any deficiency.

The Crosswalk also incorporates preparedness and training requirements of the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Thus, CSEPP planners, trainers, and managers can use the Crosswalk in evaluating their program’s compliance with NIMS.

Designed in spreadsheet format, the Planning/Training/Exercises Crosswalk:

• identifies emergency preparedness and response tasks associated with CSEPP incidents,
• cross references each task with the appropriate section of the Planning Guidance,
• lists the CSEPP-approved training materials relevant to each task,
• identifies the exercise evaluation guides pertinent to each task, and
• references the sections of NIMS that relate to each task.

Appendices to the Crosswalk:

• list and describe all classroom courses, videos, CD-ROMS, DVDs, and other educational aids available for CSEPP training as well as all current on-line NIMS training courses,
• list all emergency personnel categories and the tasks and recommended training associated with each one (see Appendix D).
